The “China Day at ITU” event, held on May 11 at Istanbul Technical University’s Ayazağa Campus, brought together culture, technology, innovation, and academic collaboration.

Organized in cooperation with the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Istanbul, the event offered students, academics, and administrative staff the opportunity to experience Chinese culture throughout the day. Participants visiting the Chinese culture booths collected special stamps from each stand and received various gifts representing Chinese culture.

The conference program was attended by ITU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. İpek Akın Karadayı, and Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Istanbul Wei Xiaodong. Representatives of the diplomatic missions of Russia, Malaysia, and Egypt in Türkiye, as well as Istanbul Deputy Governor Elif Canan Tuncer, were also among the guests of the event. The speeches highlighted the future of academic, scientific, and technological cooperation between Türkiye and China.

Speaking under the theme “Producing Together for the Future of Science,” Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal emphasized the joint laboratories, student mobility programs, and research projects carried out between ITU and Chinese universities and research institutions. He also evaluated the current state of academic collaboration between ITU and Chinese higher education institutions and technology companies, drawing attention to future cooperation potential. The importance of ongoing collaborations in areas ranging from smart technologies to next-generation energy solutions was highlighted.

The event also featured Hikvision, which introduced AI-supported smart sensing technologies to participants under its vision “See Far, Go Further.” Visitors had the opportunity to explore future technologies closely, while Chinese companies and institutions provided information about career and collaboration opportunities.

During the cultural part of the event, participants experienced traditional Chinese cuisine, explored cultural practices, and visited interactive experience areas related to Chinese culture.
