Visa

EU Citizens: No visa required for entry.
Other Nationalities: Please visit the e-visa webpage to check your visa requirements. If you are exempt, no application is necessary.

Regardless of your citizenship, ensure you have your passport with you, as it will be required to apply for a residence permit when you arrive in Istanbul.

Residence Permit

Foreign visitors who will stay in Türkiye for longer than 90 days must apply for a residence permit. This requirement applies to all Erasmus students upon their arrival in Türkiye.

Application Form

• You receive it after completing the online application on https://e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr/

• After creating your application form, you need to provide your fingerprints to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management. If you have previously given your fingerprints, visit the migration office to have your criminal record number added to the application form. Please submit your application form, passport, and current student certificate to the following offices to provide your fingerprints.

    • Pendik District Working Group Presidency,

    • Sultanbeyli District Working Group Precidency.

Copy of Your Passport
National identity cards are not accepted for residence permit applications. Please provide:
- • A copy of the first page of your passport (validity date page)
- • A copy of the entry stamp page
- • A copy of your visa (if applicable)
Copy of Residence Permit Card

Please disregard if you do not have a residence permit card.
Student Certificate

To obtain your Student Certificate, visit the Student Registrar’s Office after completing your course registration. You can find the location here.
Acceptance Letter of ITU

This is the letter we sent prior to the start of your mobility.
Declaration of Residence
- • If you have a host, the notarized commitment about your stay must be provided.
  
  The host must have a legal stay in Turkey.
  
  The host can give commitment to a maximum of two people.
  
  The host must provide a certificate of residence (from e-devlet portal).
  
  If the host is a Turkish citizen, a certified civil registry copy (“vukuatlı nüfus kayıt örneği” in Turkish, from e-devlet portal),
  
  Invoice registered in the name of the host is required (only electricity, water, gas bills will be accepted).
  
  If the host is a Turkish citizen and married, his/her spouse must give the commitment too.
- • If you are staying home with a Rental Contract, notarized copy of the Rental Contract must be provided.
  
  •The Rental Contact must be notarized by the landlord. Please keep your passport with you and go to notary office with the landlord.
- • If staying in dormitories, a document proving that you are staying in a dormitory. Dormitory signature circular or a photocopy of the dormitory's tax certificate also required if the document does not have a barcode or QR code.
- • If staying in hotels, etc., a document proving that you stayed in these places, a receipt showing the payment for the period of stay and signature circular of the hotel.
- • Photocopy of House Deed if you are staying in your own house.

Valid Health Insurance

Original insurance policy is required.
The insurance must cover all types of treatment in Turkey during the duration of your studies (with specific dates indicated).
The insurance should be from a company that has a collaborator/branch office in Turkey.
Private insurance from a Turkish company is acceptable.
The insurance should be approved by the Social Security Institution of Turkey (SGK) with a form (an inter-government bilateral agreement), such as T/A 11, A/TR 4, CZ/TR 111, etc.

* For applying to residence permit, it is required for applicants' health insurances to cover the "Minimum Policy Content".

*Non- Contracted Institutions: Institutions (hospitals, physicians’ offices, and the other health institutions.) do not have an agreement with the insurer.

Receipt of payment from Tax Office for Residence Permit Card Fee
You will be responsible for paying the card fee and obtaining a receipt for the payment. You can do this online or in person:

• In-Person Payment: After completing the residence permit application form, you can pay the card fee at the nearest tax office. Click here for the contact information of all tax offices in Istanbul.

• Online Payment:
