“Attention to students considering Erasmus+ Internship in Germany:
In accordance with the Minimum Wage Law (MiLoG), which came into force in Germany as of 1.1.2015, the validity of the minimum wage application has been ensured throughout the country. This law also covers interns in general.
University students and university graduates in Turkey who want to participate in the Erasmus+ Internship program in Germany are also included in the scope of this law. However, it is not foreseen that the salary will be paid by an employer within the scope of the Erasmus+ Internship Programme.
Students within the scope of Erasmus+ Internship Programs cover their expenses mostly with EU-funded scholarships and their own means. In this case, visa applications of Erasmus+ Internship Program students who must meet the minimum wage requirement are rejected.
EXCEPTION cases (according to Article 22 of the minimum wage law)
– if the student is obliged to do an internship within the framework of school, vocational training or higher education (in case of compulsory internship),
-If the student does an internship for up to 3 months for orientation purposes within the framework of vocational training or the higher education program he wants to start ,
– If the student has not had such an internship relationship with the employer before, he/she is exempt from the minimum wage obligation if he/she completes an internship that accompanies his/her vocational or higher education for up to 3 months. “
